Simon Cowell Pursuing Nicki Minaj for 'The X Factor'

Simon Cowell is reportedly pursuing Nicki Minaj for a judging gig on his new singing competition The X Factor. According to the New York Post's sources, Cowell recently met with Minaj in Los Angeles to discuss the possibility of her joining the show, which will begin in the fall on Fox.

It's not hard to see why Cowell would be interested in teaming up with Minaj. Her flashy style and quick wit could be major advantages, and would set the show apart from other singing competitions with pop star judges who may be considered past their prime.

So far, only Cowell and former Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid have been confirmed as judges on the American version of The X Factor. Aside from Minaj, other rumored candidates for the judges panel include Mariah Carey, George Michael, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls and Cowell's former American Idol sparring partner Paula Abdul.
